Since 2015, Your Theatre, Inc. and WHALE have led an active team effort to save the First Baptist Church in Downtown New Bedford. After a highly successful feasibility study funded by the Mass Cultural Council CFF Feasibility Funds and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, we moved forward to repurpose the church as a permanent home for Your Theatre, Inc. and other performing arts partners while also retaining a home for the congregation. As a collaborative theatre space and a local history exhibit of “Robert’s Rules of Order”, this project will further connect a historic neighborhood to New Bedford’s growing creative economy.

In 2019 the First Baptist Church building has been renamed the Steeple Playhouse. Steeple Playhouse, once renovated will offer a variety of spaces to be utilized by local and surrounding area arts and community partners.
