MISSION: Create and celebrate the arts with the Southcoast community in an Inclusive theatre environment.
VISION: We envision a future when Your Theatre is known throughout the Southcoast as an enthusiastically welcoming and supportive producer for local performing artists. It will be a place where collaboration, community, and conversation create belonging—a diverse, safe space where anyone can join together and tell unique stories to entertain, educate, empower, and transform our community from stage to spectator and back again.
Through Steeple Playhouse, we envision thriving partnerships with local groups, enabling us all to create and celebrate art with more of our community. We look forward to a time when Steeple Playhouse is a thriving, community-focused performing arts center that professionally equips a diverse array of producers to present accessible and beneficial events—becoming a place where every week of the year, you can see our community creating and celebrating art in ways that make you proud to call the Southcoast home.
We see a future when we are an organization made of engaged members, directors, staff, and volunteers who reflect our community’s diverse cultures and experiences. As we strive to represent and reflect our whole community, we will be a place that rejects attitudes, actions, preconceptions, traditions, or prejudices that do not serve our community. We are committed to becoming a community theatre where it is always apparent that we value both community and theatre.

We offer two primary programs for the benefit of our community: a self-produced Main Stage Season and a partnership-focused Steeple Playhouse Performing Arts Center Program (PAC Program). We additionally offer several secondary programs: the Original Works Lab, which supports aspiring playwrights and produces new works, the New Bedford Jazz Festival, which presents high-quality music performances, and Theatre Education, which enables low- and no-cost classes and workshops on everything from acting to set construction.

The First Baptist Church, now Steeple Playhouse, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Treasure by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Your Theatre, Inc. owns, actively cares for, and maintains this beautifully renovated local landmark by enabling the community to make and celebrate art in a shared place.
After a decade-long fundraising and renovation project, the Steeple Playhouse opened in November 2023. Today, Steeple Playhouse Performing Arts Center hosts local nonprofits and arts groups for performances and presentations.
